Keri Bancroft

Keri has been with the firm since July of 2002.  She is the face you see when you walk in the front door and the voice on the other end of the phone.  She has an Associate’s Degree in Business from Northwestern Michigan College. Keri specializes in payroll and payroll tax payments, bookkeeping, billing and has been commissioned by the State of Michigan to serve as a Notary Public.  In 2016, Keri and Her husband, Greg, purchased the family farm making them the third generation to own the farm. At Rolling Meadows Farms in Buckley, they raise Beef Cattle, Corn, Soybeans, Hay, Wheat and Oats. They also raise their 9 year old daughter, Carley.  Also in 2016, Greg and Keri became partners in the family auction business, Wayne Bancroft Auction Service LLC (www.waynebancroftauctions.com)  . They spend lots of weekends traveling around the state helping people liquidate their items.   As a family they are involved with Grawn United Methodist Church and in the Grand Traverse County 4H program.  Keri serves as the Vice President of the Northwest Michigan 4H Livestock Council as well.

Jerry is the shareholder and manager of the firm. He moved to Traverse City in 1979 after purchasing a bookkeeping and tax practice. He specializes in working with business consulting and their accounting systems. He and his firm assist with government compliance by preparing payroll, business and individual tax returns. People are surprised to hear that he actually enjoys the long hours of tax season each year. He explains that during tax season he meets with many of his clients and receives updates on what has happened with their families. Quite often the client relationships become more like a friendship. In many cases he is now working with the grown children of his long term clients.

After Jerry served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam conflict he married his wife, Kate and attended Grand Valley State Colleges (before it became a university) on the G I Bill and his wife’s (Kate’s) income. He graduated with a Bachelors of Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting.  Jerry and Kate have three grown children.

Jerry started his accounting career working for a CPA firm in Grand Rapids, Michigan and became a Certified Public Accountant in June of 1978. During the fall of 1979 he purchased a bookkeeping and tax practice in Traverse City and has served clients throughout Michigan plus tax clients in several states.

He has been a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and The Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants since 1978. As a member he is required to take forty hours of continuing education each year.

Jerry was a founding member of the Traverse Bay Sunrise Rotary Club. He chaired the student exchange committee for the club for several years and later he and Kate served as the student exchange outbound coordinators for Rotary District 6290.

He is a member of America’s Boating Club of Grand Traverse Bay (Formerly known as Grand Traverse Bay Sail and Power Squadron). The organization provides boating education classes to its members and the general public. The goal is to promote safe boating from paddle boards to large motor and sailing vessels. The club also provides vessel safety checks. Jerry served as the Squadron Commander and then the District 9 Commander. At that time District 9 consisted of 24 Michigan squadrons and one in South Bend Indiana. The club also has social activities for its members.

Jerry and Kate enjoy taking motorcycle trips during the summer and fall. Over the years they have traveled around four of the five great lakes and taken rides through the Smoky  Mountains including the Dragon’s Tail in Tennessee which has 313 curves in 11 miles.

They also enjoy spending many summer days at the cottage (Redneck Lodge) on Lake Leelanau with family and friends. Jerry also enjoys playing golf in the summer and bowling in the winter.

20 plus years of accounting services in both the private and public sectors is what makes Jim Dulzo a valuable employee of J L Stephan Co.  Jim has been with the firm since June of 2010 and is planning on wrapping up his CPA studies and obtaining his license within the upcoming year.  Key specialties include individual and business tax returns, payroll and payroll tax forms, as well as bookkeeping for businesses and individuals.  Many of these skills were obtained, not only from his working career, but also from his college education where he has earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and a Master’s Degree in Finance through Baker College.   Jim is married to his beautiful wife Cindy and they have 6 children between them. Any free time is devoted to spending with family and attending his children’s sporting events. He is very active in his church at Lake City CRC where he serves in a leadership role with the youth group and serves as a Deacon on the church board.
